In 1955, Rosa Parks (civil rights activist), an African-American, had refused to give her seat up to a white man. She was arrested which had changed the United States forever. Many people were enraged with this situation and decided to act on it. For over a year, the African American community had boycotted all bus systems. They believed the the busing systems should be a "first come-first serve" basis. After 382 days of walking to every destination, and the trial of Browder v. Gayle the supreme made the decision that segregation on the buses was unconstitutional. As a result, the Montgomery Bus Boycott was a major success.
